WHAT IS CARDIVAL?

Have you ever wandered into a book shop or gaming store and the rules of time and space seem to slip away there?  The shop seems deeper than it should be.  There is an charge of wonder and limitless possibility in the air?  Those are magic places, Mystic Shops.  These places that exist in the world, have doorways, actual passages into other realms, but only for those who participate in a transdimensional event, known as CARDIVAL. 

Every year, for three nights, the doors to other dimensions open up, and those who possess a Mystic Primer, are given pass to travel between dimensions and collect awesome interdimensional swag!  This loot comes in the form of stickers, cards, little figures, merch and bric-a-brac.  Each of them possess some mystical power.  

HOW DO YOU COLLECT MYSTIC SWAG?
By challenging other collectors.  With the doors of Cardival open, other dimensional beings, agents of Cardival and other collectors, are out in your city's streets.  Find them, challenge or trade with them.         

THE SETTING

The players assume the roles of a group of kids from a metropolitan/urban area. They discover a Mystic Shop one evening. The players select one of the items from the shop, their starter set, and receive a “Mystic Primer”, a book detailing the ins and outs of dealing with the Mystic World and its travellers on Earth.  The magic of Cardival can only function at night. There is something about our sun’s rays that interfere with the connection between our world and the mystic world. 

Make a map of a city at night (lots of character) and have printable tokens to place on the map for NPCs and Locations

THE MYSTIC PRIMER

Players receive a copy of the Mystic Primer, the equivalent of the SEARS or NINTENDO POWER, catalogue which lays out all the cool shit you can order through the Mystic Merchant.

THIS GAME IS IN ITS INFANCY, but with enough interest and some free time, I'd like to take this torch back up and deliver a three night sample event to run. 

For now, here's just the core mechanic if you wanted to play a group of kids out for an evening of mischief, without any mystic bric-a-brac!
